Emergency Heating and Cooling: We’re Committed to Answering the Call
Whether you’re working in contingency planning or urgent procurement, you know first-hand how little time there is for decision-making in an emergency.
Emergencies can be limited in scope – a heating problem on your work site, for example – or they can be catastrophic and affect hundreds of people. But if your project needs help, no matter the size, Cool Air Rentals always answers the call. Here are just some of the ways our team has met complex client needs in an emergency situation.
Answering the Call for Heat
A 10 story building lost its heating when a flood wiped out its boiler room. Cool Air’s team of experts were able to move a large amount of equipment quickly, setting up a hydronic heating plant in just one day. This kind of quick heating response makes a big difference in cold weather, not just to tenants, but to the building itself. In complicated situations like remediating after a flood, access to reliable and consistent emergency building heat as well as potable hot water can be a game-changer.
Answering the Call for Safety
We think of heating as an indoors challenge, but Cool Air’s advisors are often asked to come up with creative outdoor heating solutions. When winter weather hit during a planned upgrade to Vancouver General Hospital’s mechanical system, heating the helipad became a priority. The helipad is used for emergency hospital transfers – and it was up to Cool Air to find a way to keep it clear of ice and snow. Cool Air’s team set up a hydronic heater that took over the responsibility of the dedicated building system, and ensured the pad stayed dry and slip free. Our hydronic heaters are the perfect solution for situations that require a high degree of customization: they can operate on propane, natural gas, or diesel. We can even tie into a district energy loop and circulate hot water throughout your facility. To find out more about our hydronic heaters, click here.
Answering the Call for Cooling
During the deadly 21 day heat dome in 2021, temperatures soared to 20 degrees above normal. Health Emergency Management BC (HEMBC) asked Cool Air to set up emergency cooling in hospitals, clinics and long-term care homes to ensure that everyone stayed safe, cool and comfortable. Because each location had different needs and challenges, Cool Air’s team focused on good communication and strategic placement of assets, ensuring everyone’s needs were met. Cool Air built on that experience and continues to work with other facilities to develop risk mitigation plans as a way to prepare for emergencies, system failures or planned shut downs.
