Adiabatic Pods: How Cool Air Innovates Custom Cooling Solutions

We pride ourselves on our diverse fleet of equipment – for just about every challenge a customer faces, we’ve got a solution that’s ready to roll in, plug in, and turn on. But what happens when a client needs a solution that we just don’t have a ready-made piece of equipment for? That’s simple: we build it for you.

Our customer required a temporary cooling solution that they could use during the testing phase of their hydrogen energy plant.

“We went full custom on this one because we just didn’t have the equipment in our existing fleet,” explains John O’Malley, President of Cool Air. The solution had to be light, efficient and easy to fit in a crowded space.

John shared how the team worked together to build this custom solution. “Our design team, led by Greg (Director of Projects) and Fabio (Lead Project Manager) drove the discussion of how this would work. They gathered all the necessary materials and components. Then we turned to our team of lead technicians, to assemble and conduct the initial tests at our shop.” They sent the results back to the design team for final tweaks and improvement. The result? A new approach to cooling that was easy to transport, and didn’t require large scale power to operate.

When we say “easy to transport”, it’s important to understand that traditional industrial rental cooling towers of this capacity are heavy, bulky pieces of equipment. “And they require a crane to lift everything into place, and then a second crane to get the rental piece back off the roof – that requires a lot of planning, permits and scheduling,” explains John. “The beauty of our adiabatic units is the portability – using the elevator, we go up as high as we can go, and then carry the components up the stairs to the roof. No crane needed.” This customization increases efficiency and reduces overall costs for each job.

Each Adiabatic pod solution is designed to perfectly fit your project. They’re transported in a knocked-down format, assembled on-site and then piped into the existing cooling system. And because they’re customized for every project, they can be easily fitted around a complex rooftop. We’re proud of our solution, and because they fit our roll-in, plug in, turn on philosophy, today they’re used by all kinds of industrial clients, including Lions Gate Hospital and Lululemon. That’s how innovative, reliable and effective working with Cool Air can be. If you’ve got questions, we’ve got solutions – email us at info@cool-air.com or request an express quote today.
