City of Surrey Mayor’s Charity Ball

Balancing Budget and Comfort

The Mayor’s Charity Ball is the City’s premiere annual fund-raising and networking event and is organized in cooperation with the corporate community. This black tie event offers profile and visibility for both the City of Surrey and its business community. Net proceeds from this event are being directed to the Surrey Firefighter’s Charitable Society, a charity that is recognized through its charitable work and donations as making a difference in the lives of Surrey residents.

The Challenge

This event took place in an incomplete building that had no dedicated cooling or ventilation system. Time of year and lack of air movement meant that indoor conditions would be hot and uncomfortable.

The Solution

Two areas inside the large space were targeted:

Main Event Space – A 25 ton air cooled unit was positioned outside the building. Both supply and return air duct was utilized to create a closed loop system to maximize cooling in the area where a sit down dinner was served.

Gaming Area – This long narrow space had previously been hot and humid. By positioning our Hurricane air mover at one end and forcing fresh air through the area, we eliminated the build up of heat.

The Result

Finding a balance between adequate results and budget conditions is always a challenge. Cool Air is very adept at understanding the expectations of the client and providing a cost effective solution. For this project we were able to deliver a combined cooling and ventilation package that achieved the sought-after results.
